The Accommodation
Upstairs at the Cheese Market provides elegant accommodation for two in the centre of Hay-on-Wye.
The living room
The apartment is accessed by a beautiful wide oak staircase, original to the building when it was a manorial courtroom. A bedroom and the main living space lead off a wood paneled entrance hall.
The living area, once a courtroom, cinema and church, is an elegant yet cosy space with original features and a feature fireplace. Artworks by local artists adorn the walls.
Large windows with unrivaled views of Hay Castle ensure the apartment feels light and bright, and the triple glazing keeps the flat peaceful and quiet.
A comfortable seating area with a large three-seater sofa and reading armchair is provided, perfect for cosying up to watch a DVD or read a book.
The gas central heating and electric fire-effect heater for added cosiness keep the apartment warm even in the coldest months.
No property in the Town of Books would be complete without a well-stocked bookshelf. There is a good selection of fiction, works by local authors, guidebooks and local interest books.
There is also number of leaflets and information on things to do in and around Hay, including a wall-mounted OS map of the area. Once settled in you should be able to find everything you may need for your stay in Hay from the doorstep.
*Please note that a steep oak staircase accesses the flat.

Parking
With the apartment’s location right in the centre of Hay you should have little need for a car when exploring the town. But as most guests arrive by car, and like to explore the wider area, we provide a dedicated private space a short 3-minute walk from the apartment.
There is also a pay and display car park immediately outside the Cheese Market. This can be parked in for free overnight (apart from Wednesday evenings, which is the night preceding Hay Market Day – the perfect day for people watching from the apartment!).
